Essay :- “Is America’s
Food Supply Safe?”
Because of getting energy and staying in
good health we take food. So we have to know that what we are eating every
time. According to the article “Is America’s Food Supply Safe?” by Dr. David
Acheson, Assistant Commissioner for Food Protection Food and Drug
Administration, we know that America’s Food and Drug Administration working
hardly with all agencies to make more safer food. They are using modern
scientific method to protect food contamination and educates consumer to be
sure that they should process the food appropriate way. A large group of
investigators inspecting all over the country to make sure that supplying food
are safe. Even they are working in boarder to stop inter unsafe food from other
countries. The F.D.A. working hard to give good services about food safety. So
can be sure that what we are eating it is safe and secure for our health.
America’s food protection departments are
concern about to supply safe food. They say that they want to catch problem
early that they can fix it. As Dr. David Acheson mention in the article “Is
America’s Food Supply Safe?” that “We have 625 investigators working out of 20
different offices all across the country who are dedicated to inspecting our
food supply and working with food companies to make sure they do everything
they can to keep food safe.” That means a large group of people working in
different places to make sure that all food that are coming from different
companies they preparing proper way and it is safe to eating. I am agree with
them that they are working hard to supply safe food. For example, a period of
time in the year 1991 to 1999 I have worked in a first food company name Dunkin
Donuts. I saw that every month the city inspection group come to inspect the
store. They check every corner of the store, all machinery materials, using
bowls, using other materials, all products like: oil, flour, sugar, etc. and
expiration dates. If any time they got anything wrong they give violation a big
amount of money. Sometimes they locked some store because of dirtiness and
servicing unsafe food. So I believe that the F. D. A. working hard to check
that America’s food are not bacterial and viral contamination and prepared
proper way.
In addition, F.D.A. working on boarder to
protect the unsafe food what enter from other country because they suspect that
other countries food may not prepared proper way. In this article, Dr. David
Acheson say, “The F.D.A. has inspectors at our boarders to prevent unsafe food
from entering our country.” That means the F.D.A. people working on boarder to
stop entering unsafe food. America imports and exports food from other country.
They set inspectors other country who can make sure that food are safe. They
are always alert about their food safety.
For example, if you go to airport you can see people who are coming from
foreign country, they bring food from their country but F.D.A. inspecting their
luggage and throwing all food in garbage. Sometime they fine them too for that
food. One of my friends got three hundred dollars fine in the year 2011 because
she brought some meat and fruits. From this activities we can be sure that
America’s food department are concern about food safety.
In conclusion, Dr. David Acheson,
Assistant Commissioner for Food Protection Food and Drug Administration says
that America’s supplying food are safe to eat. Also according to the article,
“Is America’s Food Supply Safe?” we know that F.D.A. inspecting all over the
food supplying companies to make sure that they are preparing and cooking food appropriate way. They
working on boarder to make sure the food which coming from other country are
safe to eat and preventing enter unsafe food. So F.D.A. working together to
keep America’s people healthy and making sure that America’s food is safe to
eat.
